"A nice spot of gardening " With our Celtic roots it's no doubt we love it when the Daffodils start to bloom. Swathes of vibrant yellow grace our Welsh hills and it truly is a sight to behold. It also reminds us that warmer weather is afoot when we can enjoy longer evenings and also get out in to the garden. As a spot of gardening is one of our favourite past times here at Celtic Herbal, we just had to develop a fresh and invigorating soap for green fingers, which we simply call Gardener's Soap. This wonderful, handmade, natural soap is crammed with Rosemary essential oil, Fennel Seed and groundnut shells, offering a refreshing and deeply cleansing soap to leave even the most green fingered with clean, sweet-smelling hands. Rosemary was the clear choice as the main ingredient for our Gardener's soap, especially as it is so popular amongst horticulturists and also because of its numerous health benefits. Rosemary has been extensively used since ancient times for a variety of purposes. The various health benefits of Rosemary made it a favourite of Paracelsus, a renowned physician, who made significant contribution to herbal medicine during the sixteenth century. Paracelsus valued Rosemary oil due to its ability to strengthen the entire body and he rightly believed that Rosemary oil had the ability to heal delicate organs such as the liver, brain and also the heart, when taken orally. On a cosmetic front, Rosemary oil is used extensively for hair care in shampoos and lotions, as it can help in stimulating follicles, making hair grow longer and stronger. It has also been said that Rosemary can slow down premature hair loss and going grey - so it's worth a try! Most of all Rosemary is great for dry and flaky skin. It is a wonderful natural moisturiser, nourishing the skin and soothing dry, flaky patches. This amazing herb is also a fantastic disinfectant, which made it the ideal choice for our Gardener's soap, to help hard-working hands clean away grime with ease, whilst keeping them soft and silky. We also believe that Rosemary is complimented greatly by Fennel, which gently fragrances our Gardener's soap. The Fennel offers a sweet scent of aniseed but also offers a great way to naturally alleviate muscle aches and pains. This is due to the herb's antispasmodic effect to relax and smooth muscles in the body, including the uterus when taken orally. Serveral studies have shown that Fennel acts as a phytoestrogen in the body, simulating the effects of estrogen in the system. It has traditionally been used to stimulate menstruation and milk production in nursing mothers, and one study suggests that the herb does indeed have a mild estrogenic effect. Which is why the herb has also traditionally been used to treat conditions associated hormonal imbalance in women, including premenstrual tension (PMT), menopause, low milk production, and low libido.Today, Fennel is an active ingredient in many herbal formulas used to balance hormones in menopausal and premenstrual women. It is also included in some herbal formulas that claim to promote natural breast enhancement! Who said surgery was the only option? However, it is Fennel's calming and relaxing effect that made it a good choice for our Gardener's soap, as we know how skin can flare up, especially when hands are in and out grime in the garden.Special Offer 20% off Gardener's Soap
